Zusammenfassung:As a result of the rising standard of living of the working people and the growth of their monetary incomes, the population's deposits in savings banks are steadily growing. What is more, the savings accounts are growing at a more rapid rate than the money incomes of the population or the volume of retail trade turnover in government and cooperative trade. In four years of the Ninth Five-Year Plan, the average monthly wage of workers and employees has increased by more than 15%, while the wages of collective farmers have increased by more than 22%. Real per capita income has increased by almost 19%. The volume of retail trade during this time increased by more than 41 billion rubles, or by 27%. The total deposits in savings banks between 1971 and 1974 increased from 46.6 billion rubles to 78.9 billion rubles, or by 69%. The number of savings accounts increased by 20 million and reached the 100 million mark as of January 1, 1975. The average amount on deposit increased from 581 rubles to 789 rubles.
