Zusammenfassung:            According to the National Survey in Educational Access and Permanence 2021 by INEGI (2022), 36.9% of university students feel stressed and about 26.55% feel desperate by academic activities. On the other hand, 36% male student athletes and 49% female student athletes, see their mental health affected by academic worries, being one of the principal factors that have a negative impact in them (NCAA, 2022). The sample was composed by 107 student athletes in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, México. The average age reported was 20.82 (SD=1.56). Furthermore, in relation to sex, 53.3% corresponded to males and 46.7% to females. For data recollection, “Systemic Cognitive Inventory for Academic Stress study” (Barraza, 2018) was applied; composed by 21 items with 3 dimensions, with a Likert-type scale of five responses. Moreover, in the academic performance variable, the average grade reported by the student was considered. Data analysis was made by inferential parametric statistics. The results indicate that there is no significant association between academic stress and students’ academic performance.
