Zusammenfassung: | Pig producers in Japan have been confronted with severe circumstances such as stagnant low market price of pork due to its overproduction, competition with imported pork, the shortage of the building lot and the employees, and environmental conservation in these years. As a result the number of pig producers has decreased more than 10 percent in the last 2-3 years. In order to improve the efficiency of production under these circumstances, pig producers have been expanding their size of operation and making an effective use of small computer systems for monitoring their pig production, cash flow and sales management as well as faciliting their decision making. From a large set of data collected daily, however pig producers and their consultants need to analyze and diagnose their business to pinpoint the bottleneck of their management and computer system to accomplish such a task is desired. The expert diagnostic system presented by the authors can be used for the pig business by accumulating the technical knowlege in various situations. There are 72 rules for the production data analysis and 82 rules for management data in the system, and addition and alternation of the rules can be easily modified. The system can reveal the points of the management problem by comparing the current data with the basic data set by the rules as well as data analyzed in the past. In order to inspect the effectiveness of the system, the actual data collected since March, 1988 through February, 1989 in a pig producer with about 100 sows in Gunma prefecture, are diagnosed. This system revealed the problems and was proved to be useful and practical for the pig business diagnosis. |
