Zusammenfassung: | We have analysed 83 patients with mandibular angle fractures examind during the 18 years 1977-1994 at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Kyushu Dental College Hospital. The results were as follows : 1) Mandibular angle fracture occurred in 35.0% of the maxillofacial fractures and the ratio of the male to female was 7.3 to 1. The majority of cases were between 10 and 20 years old. 2) The most common causes of mandibular angle fractures were blows, sports, traffic accidents, and falls. 3) The majority of patients were treated by open reduction with use to mini-plate. The period of the intermaxillary fixation was shortened with mini-plate. 4) Among 83 fracture lines in mandibular angle, there were 62 wisdom teeth (74.7%). The erupted wisdom teeth tended to be extracted, while the impacted (premature) wisdom teeth tended to be preserved. |
