On the Printing Conditions of Ink Jet Printer

This paper describes the printing conditions of ink jet printer. It is found that (1) to characterize the printing condition, there are two fundamental qualities; a velocity ratio (ka) -1 and a nozzle diameter 2a, (k; wave number), (2) to make the ratio of printing distortion 4% and less, two fundamental parameters, (ka) -1 and 2a, must satisfy the next condition. (ka) -1·2a>0.7/π (n+1), (n; number of uncharged drop), (3) the diameter D of mosaic dot is K0·a3/2√ (ka) -1, (K0; coefficient). If a printing velocity, a printing quality and a sort of printing character are given, the design parameters are decided reasonably with above conditions. This study has developed a new high speed and high quality ink jet printer, of which the line density is 10 line/mm and the printing error ratio is under 10-7/character.
