Studies on The Night-Hospital-Therapy in Mental Hospital

The purpose of this paper is to report the process of the night-hospital-therapy and to analise the contents in the therapy practiced at the Kyoto Prefectural Mental Hospital “Rakunan”. Further, this paper reffered to several problems related to this and suggested how an rehabilitation-institution should be established. These could be summarized as follows: (1) Considering from the failed cases in social adjustment after complete night-hospital-therapy, it is most necessary for discharged patients from mental hospital conclusive follow-up-examination with a definite plan and treatment of psychiatric medicine through practicing carefull check on the condition of the disease. (2) Before the night-hospital-therapy, it is required to modify the contents of the program for present in-hospital-living-therapy so that patient's ability of motility could be improved. Through this way more developed contents of night-hospital-therapy could be expected. (3) The contents of night-hospital-therapy presently practiced in mental hospital does not adjust the patients to adapt the practical life with community, therefore it is necessary to develope the quality of the night-hospital-therapy to real rehabilitation-therapy. For this purpose it is needless to say that paramedical staffs such as professional psychiatric social worker and occupational therapist must be staffed. (4) It is also necessary to establish the official status of psychiatric social worker in the organiastion so that they are able to take an active part as a member of the medical staffs. These. require, another part, a complete clinical training for psychiatric social worker, especially in the rehabilitation-institution.
