Zusammenfassung:Objective: The purpose of this research is to propose a pedagogical model (hereinafter PM) to increase research competence (hereinafter IC) in higher education students, answering the question. What is the relevant PM to increase the IC of these students?   Theoretical framework: Training should be based on competencies, incorporate situated learning and teaching, promote interdisciplinarity, develop complex thinking and apply a critical-reflective approach. Also considered relevant are the socio-critical approach, the dialogue of knowledge and training based on previous experiences, in addition to integrating an intercultural approach and promoting the construction of meaningful learning.   Method: The research was carried out using a mixed strategy, collecting and processing quantitative and qualitative data, whose living source and main actors were EPIB educators as students of the IX and X cycle, promotion 2021, of the same specialty. Through the documentary analysis of the syllabus, the planning of training activities and the curriculum development guide proposed for this career.   Results and Discussion: The application of interviews to the participating educators, focus groups with themselves and the students; as well as the application of a quantitative processing survey has systematized the perception, definition and characterization of a PM to teach research, whose substantial content is translated into the proposal of a PM to increase the students' IQ and has as its axis the increase of skills and attitudes. This is based on the strengthening of research attitudes and skills, through consecutive actions that integrate the reflective exercise, theory, methodology, innovative exercise and the proposal of knowledge, using a formative research methodology and continuous evaluation.   Implications of the research: The practical and theoretical implications of this research are discussed, in terms of learning by researching, carrying out sequential inquiry activities, which articulate reflective practice, theory and diverse methodologies, innovative pedagogical action and generation of pedagogical knowledge, using formative research methodologies and formative evaluation of learning.   Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by proposing a pedagogical model that allows increasing the research competence of higher education students.
