Zusammenfassung: | Objective. The Japan Lung Cancer Society established the Early Career Support Committee in 2023. This survey was conducted to understand the needs and current situations of society members. Methods. The survey targeted 7,734 members of the Japan Lung Cancer Society utilizing SurveyMonkey®. The questionnaire comprised six questions related to personal situations of the respondents and four questions about projects and lectures planned by the Early Career Support Committee. Results. The response rate was 7.7%, with 595 respondents. The age distribution was as follows: 20-29 years old, 21 individuals (3.5%); 30-39 years old, 172 individuals (28.9%); 40-49 years old, 226 individuals (38.0%); 50-59 years old, 117 individuals (19.7%); and 60 years old and above, 59 individuals (9.9%). The gender breakdown showed 444 male members (74.6%), 149 female members (25.0%), and 2 members who did not disclose their gender (0.3%). More than half of the respondents requested "dispatch to international academic conferences, " "scholarships for study abroad, " or "lectures for career advancement" as the most frequently requested projects and lectures to be realized. In contrast, regarding issues hindering career development, 43.7% of respondents mentioned "university-centered personnel systems in medical departments". Conclusion. The need for planning and implementing support considering the diverse positions and values of society members has become evident. |
