Zusammenfassung: | An interesting case of dysphasia as a chief complaint which was relieved by the surgical operation was reported. The patient was 72 years old male who had been complaining of dysphasia for 4 years and the symptom became exacerbated since October 1973 when he was unable to ingest liquids. On X-ray examination of cervical vertebrae, ossification of anterior longitudinal ligament and osseous bank formation of both margins of anterior bodies of C5 and C6 were observed. The barium esophagogram revealed compression profile of esophagus. The symptom was completely improved by the excision of the hemispherical osteophyte projects from the anterior bodies of C5 and C6, 3cm in diameter so that solid intake became possible without difficulty after operation. This type of dysphasia was concluded to be due to friction of the osteophyt projects against esophagial wall associated with ingesting movement, elicited in esophagitis. |
