Zusammenfassung: | The mean ionic activity coefficients of Ga2(SO4)3 for the binary system Ga2(SO4)3–H2O and the activities of water both for the binary system Ga2(SO4)3–H2O and for the ternary system Ga2(SO4)3–H2SO4–H2O were determined by using the electrochemical and isopiestic methods, respectively, at 298 K. The water activities satisfactorily obey Zdanovskii’s empirical rule. From the results obtained, the mean ionic activity coefficients of the solutes for the ternary system were calculated by applying the Mckay-Perring method. Furthermore, the applicability of Meissner’s empirical procedure to estimate the mean ionic activity coefficients of Ga2(SO4)3 and H2SO4 in the ternary system Ga2(SO4)3–H2SO4–H2O and that of the Robinson-Bower equation to evaluate its water activity were also discussed. |
