Effect of food preirradiation on the fecundity of two insects: mealy bugs (Pseudaulacaspis pentagona Targ.) and Indian-meal moths (Plodia interpunctella Hubn.)
When the two studied insects are reared on preirradiated food, the fecundity of mealy bugs is reduced by 42% and that of the Indian-Meal moths by 32%. Effects of food irradiation on female fecundity is dose-independent in the range 33-165 krad for mealy bugs.
