Zusammenfassung: | Species of Phaneropterinae form sexual pairs as a result of males and/or females moving toward the sounds produced by the opposite sex. A heretofore undetermined pair-forming phonotaxic strategy is described in which conspecific males and females simultaneously move toward constant intensity sounds produced by the opposite sex. This contrasts to three previously described phonotaxic strategies, in which only the male or the female moves at a given time, and in which differences in sound intensity may elicit different responses. |
