Relative Toxicity of Certain Chemical Agents at Low and Room Temperature in a Homeotherm (Mouse) and a Poikilotherm (Frog)

A comparison was made of the toxicity of certain drugs on a homeotherm (mouse) and a poikilotherm (frog) at 2 different temperatures, 22⚬and 2-5⚬. All compounds were more toxic to frogs at the higher temperature. It was found possible to prevent dying of frogs with massive doses of strychnine if the...

Zusammenfassung:A comparison was made of the toxicity of certain drugs on a homeotherm (mouse) and a poikilotherm (frog) at 2 different temperatures, 22⚬and 2-5⚬. All compounds were more toxic to frogs at the higher temperature. It was found possible to prevent dying of frogs with massive doses of strychnine if they were kept long enough at Iow temperature. By contrast, chemical compounds were more toxic to the mice at low temperature.
