Zusammenfassung:The results of this survey show that, in the period of sampling, chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides and six selected metals very probably did not represent a hazard to the fish and birds in Lake Nakuru. It was mentioned, however, that with respect to zinc and copper a more detailed study will be required in order to measure the toxicity of these elements alone and in combination under the peculiar environmental conditions of this soda-lake. This type of information will be needed for the evaluation of tolerance limits with regard to pollution problems which may arise in the future. The data presented in this paper provide useful baseline information for monitoring future trends of pollution in this part of the world.
