Zusammenfassung: | Eupomacentrus mellis n. sp. is a small, deep-bodied and laterally compressed species of damselfish, distributed throughout the Caribbean area. It is characterized by a serrated preopercle, entire anterior suborbital elements and an overall orange-yellow coloration broken by paired longitudinal violet lines (which may break up into rows of spots posteriorly) beginning on the snout and forehead and continuing to a large dark spot in the dorsal fin. The caudal peduncle lacks a dark spot. A key to the eleven known species of Eupomacentrus in the Western Atlantic is included. |
