Zusammenfassung:Biological problems in botany cannot, nor should not, be left to an approach based exclusively on the physical sciences. Since life is unique, it is reasonable to assume that a study of life has unique problems, many of which can be solved with the help of the physical sciences but which in the main remain biological. This article presents a different point of view with different examples from those written earlier by botanists in response to the paper on "The Future Welfare of Botany" (AIBS bulletin, Vol. 13, No. 1, pp. 20-21, 1963.)
