Zusammenfassung: | In conclusion, the presented results indicate that short-term dehydration in the fronds of Asplenium ceterach may induce changes in phenolic acid metabolism by increasing the POD and PPO activity. To our knowledge this is the first attempt to analyze POD and PPO isoform profiles in the rustyback fern. Changes in the enzyme activity and content of substrates during dehydration may play an important role in the adaptation of the rustyback fern to water deficit, and increase the overall plant resistance to stress conditions. Examination of the activity and possible role of these enzymes during long-term dehydration and the rehydration process will be a course of our further work. |
