Zusammenfassung: | Plants in science fiction: speculative vegetation (2020) is the first collection of essays that examines the protean role of vegetation viewed as part of – not outside of – our life. The volume urges us to think of plants as entities endowed with agentive capabilities and challenges our traditional perception of superiority towards the world of flora. The contributors address a wide range of topical concerns, showing that plants in science fiction can change our attitude toward nature, culture and ethics, on the one hand, and, on the other, that hybrid forms of growth can shape new visions of the future. |
