Zusammenfassung:Aim: The competitiveness of the hostels is critical for the development of tourism as the most prominent accommodation option of youth tourism which grows quite fast worldwide and leads to significant movement of people and money. This study aims to analyze competitiveness in hostel management. Method: Qualitative data obtained from the hostel operators through semistructured interviews and quantitative data obtained from the survey by hostel consumers are analyzed. Findings: The findings show that internet access, price, hygiene, bathroom facilities and location are important for the demand for hostels. Although there is a stable competitive environment in terms of hostesses in Istanbul, it is seen that chain enterprises are growing in the area of hostel management worldwide and prepared to compete with other accommodation alternatives due to the increase in quality in this area. Results: The competition in the hostels shows a simple appearance that the price is the most basic. However, it is determined that the number of enterprises, especially large / chain enterprises, should be expected to expanse. Both chain companies and airbnb and couchsurfing alternatives can be expected to prepare serious competition. In Turkey, as a priority, it is understood that the hostels should increase the features and quality.
