Zusammenfassung:When the base ground overlying geomembrane liner may subside partially, the geomembrane is forced to create tensile strain. Some methods of calculating induced tensile strain have been proposed, but their usefulness has not been proven. In this paper, the effects of confining pressure and of frictional property on geomembrane interface are considered by conducting the trapped door tests. It was found that the maximum tensile strain were underestimated by Trough Model and overestimated by Elastic Model respectively. Then the authors modified the Trough Model's assumption about the angle of shear plane progressing in lower protective layer, and presented a method to estimate the elongation and the maximum tensile strain.
