Because of the challenges faced in the identification of this organism, it is often under diagnosed or misdiagnosed. Here, we report a case of splenic abcess eventually leading to disseminated melioidosis caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei in a 40 year old diabetic male from a tertiary-care hospital in southern India, who presented with fever and pain over left upper abdomen.
