Reassessing "Serumpun" Concept in Malaysia-Indonesia Relations

New dynamics have emerged to influence contemporary Malaysia-Indonesia relations, which at times created less harmonious relations between them. Both domestic and external regional developments are challenges affecting their relationship that had been built on the concept of “serumpun” or kinship. Today, this concept and its relevance in their bilateral relations are less understood. This article discusses the relevancy and challenges of kinship as the basis of Malaysia-Indonesia relations.
