In a situation when the resource base is becoming problematic and the economy of knowledge begins to hold sway, the stability and competitiveness of the complex will depend on innovative technological development in many ways. The factor that is becoming ever more crucial for the MRC is the use of new knowledge and technologies: the rights to results of intellectual work, technologies that allow extraction and economic exploitation of scarce and hard-to-reach resources.
