Zusammenfassung: | In the commentary, "Common Wisdom and New Findings in Sinusitis" (Pediatrics 66:638, 1980), Fulginiti suggests that it is not necessary to suspect and treat Haemophilus influenzae in acute sinusitis in children more than 4 years of age. However, several studies of both acute and chronic sinusitis in adults using cultures from direct puncture of the maxillary antrum show H influenzae is a common isolate.1-7 Therefore, it is probably necessary to include coverage for H influenzae when treating sinusitis in all age groups. |
