Zusammenfassung:We agree with Dr. Snyder on the role of the pediatrician as a "child advocate" and so stated in our article. However, we feel strongly that there is need for definition of professional roles in an area which is so laden with confusion and emotionality. It is our experience that referring agents expect neurological examinations and electroencephalograms, procedures which we find of limited value. By all means defend the child against questionable school practices, but be equally vigorous against unnecessary medical investigations.
