Zusammenfassung:The author of the sketch presents two ways in which the notion of the Philomaths’ Archive can be understood, advocating a broader perspective that incorporates the developments of the “archival turn” in literary studies. She reconstructs the largely absent from Polish research biographies of Szymon Dowkont, Kajetan Niezabitowski and Szymon Staniewicz – precursors of the Lithuanian national revival, who studied at Vilnius University during the time of the Philomath and Philaret Societies. The author draws attention to the points where the biographies of the sketch protagonists and the Philomaths and Philarets may have intersected. She further points to the absence of a shared perspective in Polish and Lithuanian research and postulates bridging this gap, indicating the newly opened areas of research.
