Partial hydrolysis of a mixture of Me SnCl and Me SnCl affords an aggregate of the composition [Sn Cl(O)(OSnMe )(Me) which cocrystallises with two equivalents of Me SnCl to form endless bands of {[Sn Cl(O)(OSnMe )(Me) ·2Me SnCl} linked through Sn ··· Cl intermolecular contacts.
