Zusammenfassung:S-5447 (3-phenoxybenzyl-α'-isopropyl-4'-tert-bytylphenyl acetate) exhibited locomotor-stimulant activity against carmine mites. Mites released on the leaf treated with S-5447 moved away from it promptly without feeding. But mites did not avoid the leaves treated with S-5447 when treated and untreated leaves were placed alternately. On the other hand, when the mites dipped into 100-ppm solution of S-5447 were released at the center of a filter paper 11 cm in diameter, they moved more straight-flowardly and left the filter paper more promptly than untreated mites did. When 1 ng of S-5447 was applied to the legs or gnathosoma of a mite, it reacted to show the same behavioral pattern as the mite dipped into 100-ppm solution of S-5447, but when it as applied to the dorsal plate of idiosoma, the mite did not show the same behavioral pattern. The sensitive sites of carmine mites to S-5447 seemed to be the legs and the pedipalpus.
