Logging Trailers for Low Volume Harvest Applications in the South

Two different logging trailers pulled by agricultural tractors were examined in brief case studies. Zusammenfassung:Two different logging trailers pulled by agricultural tractors were examined in brief case studies. A shop-built trailer, observed forwarding log-length pulpwood and sawtimber harvested from a natural pine stand, had an average productivity of 4.92 m3 (174ft3) per productive hour on six turn cycles with an average round-trip travel distance of 480 m (1576ft). A Scandinavian-manufactured trailer, observed forwarding shortwood from a pine plantation thinning, had an average productivity of 3.48 m3 (123 ft3) per productive hour on six turn cycles with an average round-trip travel distance of 361 m (1184 ft). Logging trailers appear to have potential as low capital equipment alternatives for low volume harvest applications in the south
