Zusammenfassung:Particulate Matter (PM) discharged from diesel engines is noxious for the human body and the severe emission regulation of PM is planned and executed. A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is widely studied as an effective method for removing PM in the exhaust gas from the diesel engines. However, the DPF has an essential weak point which is not to be able to remove smaller size of PM than the effective mesh size of the filter. Therefore the water driven scrubber system which can remove the ultra small size of PM is proposed. In this study, the removal capabilities of PM of the jet scrubbers and the venturi scrubbers are examined. By cooling the exhaust gas before entering the scrubber, the removal capability of PM is improved and long-time operation becomes possible without supplementation of the operating water. In the current stage, about 58% of ultra small size of PM which escapes through DPF can be removed by the venturi scrubber system.
