Zusammenfassung:Treatment of 1-methyl-3-(3-phenyl-1-triazenyl) pyridinium iodide (2a-e) with base gave triazole derivatives (3 and 4) with expulsion of the pyridine ring. Similarly, the reaction of 1-methyl-3-benzoylpyridinium oxime iodide (10a-c) with base afforded isoxazole derivatives. A possible mechanism for the formation of these reaction products is discussed.
