Zusammenfassung:(2-Methylimidazol-4-yl)methylideneamino-2-ethylpyridine (HLMe) functions as either bidentate or tridentate ligand to FeII ion to produce the 2:1 complex [Fe(HLMe)2](PF6)2 (1) and the 3:1 complex [Fe(HLMe)3](PF6)2 (2). Both complexes showed spin crossover (SCO) behaviors; 1 exhibited a gradual SCO between HS and (HS + LS)/2 and 2 showed an one-step abrupt SCO between HS and LS.
