Construction and operation of information services

The lecturer lists three requisites to actualize information services users are satisfied with: 1) to clarify objectives and policies, 2) to grasp and evaluate uses quantitatively, and 3) to consider and utilize such tools as statistical knowledge and IT technology. According to the above the lecturer presents three practical cases at the library he is responsible for the management. First he describes contents preparation and operation of the homepage which works as information navigator, is updated always and shows some moving in contents. Secondly he explains how overseas journals are selected for subscription. Those journals are evaluated based on data such as references and cited references statistically. Lastly he shows how to build document recommendation service using filtering technique. In this service search formula are not required any more. He mentions a way of seeking information provision on the web which incorporate traditional library facility in it. Library facility has provided space where ones enable to come to or think of some idea or thought.
