Zusammenfassung:The Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia was formed to address the shortage of biostatisticians in that country. Academic biostatisticians are geographically spread out, with no single university department having the capacity to offer a graduate program in biostatistics. Eight universities have formed a consortium to mount such a program, with all instruction being in distance mode. Students choose to enroll at one of the institutions, and the courses are each delivered by one of the institutions. Extensive use is made of an online learning environment, as well as more traditional course notes and textbooks. The program has been running successfully since 2001.
