The effect of pentoxifylline on regional vascular systems

Summary A series of experiments, using three different pharmacological models, was carried out to determine more precisely the reactivity of blood vessels in various organs and with differing internal diameters after administration of pentoxifylline. The results showed that the absorptive and local action of pentoxifylline on the blood vessels of the mouse, rabbit and frog produced dilatation primarily in the smallest arterial vessels and the results recorded in the mouse liver and muscles indicate differing regional vascular reactions.
