Zusammenfassung: | Background: Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) is a feared complication particularly among patients of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with bulky lymphadenopathy. We conducted a national wide retrospective analysis to determine the impact of TLS on hospitalization among patients admitted for treatment of DLBCL.
Methods: The data for this study was obtained from the National Inpatient Sample Database. Using the relevant International Classification of Diseases (1CD) 10 codes, hospitalizations with the primary diagnosis of DLBCL from 2015-19 were subclassified into cases with and without TLS. Univariate analysis was conducted using the chi-square and T-test to compare categorical and continuous variables, respectively between the two groups. Thereafter, propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to match the two groups for patient demographics, and comorbidities. Cochran-Mantel-Haenzel test was used for determining the odds ratio between the endpoints of interest. A p value of |
