Zusammenfassung: | The article discusses the legal position of ‘solopreneurs’ under German law. After a look at questions of definition (Section 2), it is explained why we are likely to see a growing number of such persons in the labour market (Section3). The basic categories (self-employed, employees, ‘quasi-salaried persons, and home workers) are introduced (Section 4), before taking a closer look at the provisions that can be applied to ‘solopreneurs’ (Section 5). Different hypotheses are examined with the aim of understanding ways to provide ‘solopreneurs’ with more protection (Section 6). The conclusion highlights possible ways to achieve this, but freedom of contract and fair competition must not be compromised. |
