Zusammenfassung: | When there is progressive necrosis in the lower extremity whose etiology is atherosclerosis the ultimate mode of treatment is generally amputation of that part of the extremity.
This paper presents case reports of extensive necrosis at the antero-lateral part of the lower extremity which corresponds to the tibial compartment.1 The compartmental syndrome comprises the muscles between the tibia, internal ligament, the external intermuscular septum, and the skin which covers them.
The proposed surgical management is debridement of necrotic tissues except the tibial periosteum and external intermuscular septum so that skin graft, Thiersch type, covers the oozing substances, or a muscle flap and skin graft. |
