Asia-Pacific University Network Formed to Integrate ESD and SD into Higher Education

The United Nations University-Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) has launched an initiative to build academic alliances among leading universities in the Asia-Pacific area to promote the sustainability paradigm in postgraduate education and research. The initiative, still in its formative stages, is called ProSPER.Net, which stands for Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network. ProSPER.Net is a network of committed higher education institutions that will undertake collaborative education and research activities to foster environmental leaders in the region. ProSPER.Net comprises institutions with strong education and research programmes and postgraduate offerings in SD-related fields, which are involved with Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) or otherwise active in the promotion of ESD.
