Zusammenfassung: | Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is the most common viral infection in perinatal period, which can occur in neonates from mother, in utero (congenital) via placenta, during birth from birth canal or more commonly postnatally from maternal breast milk or blood product transmission. In premature infants in many instances it can lead to severe manifestations resulting in increased morbidities and mortality. In this case series we share our experience on the clinicodemographic profile for CMV infections in neonatal intensive care unit and subsequent challenges related to its early detection and timely treatment in resource limited settings. |
