Zusammenfassung:A 72-year-old woman visited our hospital for further investigation of a gastric polyp diagnosed via upper gastrointestinal series. Upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy revealed a submucosal tumor in the stomach. The patient was advised regular follow-up with upper GI endoscopy or further investigation with endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) ; EUS showed a 15-mm low-echo lesion. Specimens obtained using EUS-guided fine needle aspiration showed spindle-shaped cells. The cells were positive for CD34 and CD117, and the tumor was diagnosed as a gastrointestinal stromal tumor. The patient was advised to either undergo surgical treatment or continue regular follow-up, and preferred regular follow-up. No tumor growth has been observed.
