Zusammenfassung:Changes in body weight can impair body mobility, which favors the reduction of activities. The investigation of body weight and motor skills in childhood can benefit protection strategies. The aim of the study was to verify correlation between body weight and motor development in children aged 2-3 years. Analytical, observational, cross-sectional and prospective study. The sample consisted 289 children, 56.4% female, mean age 38±0.3 months, enrolled in Kindergarten. Anthropometry was evaluated according to Food and Nutritional Surveillance System, and motor development using Scale of Development test. The Mann-Whitney test was used for comparisons and Pearson correlation test, considering statistical significance p≤0.05. The children presented body mass index (16.4±0.2), general motor quotient (109.3±1.7) and general motor age (41.3±0.6).
