Zusammenfassung: | Coating development research envisions to dispense with solvent use, exploiting techniques such as water base systems, powder, UV light hardened and the substitution of heavy metals when it is possible. However, this kind of alternative formulations must consider the corrosión resistance when exposed to aggressive environments, to enable its use for industrial applications. The present work describes the formulation of an organic coating based on nopal cactus mucilage, Opuntia streptacantha, evaluated in a 5% saline solution (NaCl) corrosive environment, according to ASTM B117 for treatments in a salt spray chamber. The protection mechanism for low carbon steel was determined from electrochemical techniques such as polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The obtained results include relevant information about inhibition chemistry and the diversification of agroindustrial waste, looking forward to reduce the environmental impact. |
