Zusammenfassung:The placement of distinct functional blocks along the length of semiconductor nanowires is central to their promise as next generation building blocks. This task remains challenging in many systems, including group IV materials. In this talk, I will discuss our recent efforts to fundamentally connect surface chemical bonding and Si/Ge nanowire structure. I will show how we use this insight to choreograph the synthesis of high quality Si/Ge nanowires containing axial hetero- and quantum-structures.
