Zusammenfassung:Open-circuit potentials are reported for the hydrogen (Au) electrode in molten carbonate at 650/sup 0/C. The data, with few exceptions, agree with thermodynamic values calculated assuming simultaneous equilibrium of the shift and the methane reactions. The exceptions are those instances where methane has to be oxidized almost completely to reach equilibrium, and those where carbon can form during preheating of the gas.
