Zusammenfassung:Reduction of azide ions on platinum electrodes in aqueous solution was investigated using cyclic voltammetry and rotating disk electrode methodologies. Azide ions are very strongly adsorbed on the platinum surface and produce NH/sub 3/ and N/sub 2/ via an adsorbed intermediate. A reaction mechanism characteristic of the platinum electrode is proposed.
