Zusammenfassung:Hydrogen transport in the anode of a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) with superhydrophobic catalyst layer has been studied with Current-modulated Hydrogen-flowrate Spectroscopy (CH2S). The catalyst layers of Pt/C catalyst and ionomer (Nafion) are prepared by the electrospray deposition technique, with macroporous morphology and superhydrophobic pores walls. Transport properties are studied under different operating conditions in a PEMFC, including humidification, temperature, and cell current. Features of the CH2S spectra are compared for electrosprayed and commercial –hydrophilic- catalyst layers, reflecting different transport properties. The electrosprayed layers show enhanced hydrogen transport properties.
