Zusammenfassung:We examined the rest potentials of ionic liquids, and the performance of the electric-double-layer (EDL) transistors in which the gate dielectrics consisted of binary mixtures of the ionic liquids with vastly different rest potentials. It was found that the rest potentials changed non-linearly with respect to the mixing ratio of the ionic liquids. This strongly suggested that the rest potentials of ionic liquids were governed by their chemical potentials. For the EDL transistors, there was a linear relation between the rest potentials of the binary ionic liquids and the transistor threshold voltages. This means that the threshold voltages can be controlled continuously by changing the mixing ratio of the ionic liquids.
