As pointed out in the Foreword, the original work published in 1968 [Addison-Wesley, Reading, Mass.; see CR 10, 3 (March 1969), Rev. 16,340], a classic, with the basic ideas of Part I still valid after almost a decade of rapid change. In fact, in today's environment, where more and more is being demanded from computer systems, having the major selection criteria readily at hand is a major contribution and, indeed, a necessary foundation for fielding an efficient and effective computer system. |
