Book review: Neural Networks: Theory and Applications Edited by Richard J. Mannone And Yehoshua Zeevi (Academic Press, 1991)

This book leaves you with the impression that neural networks are a diverse collection of computational techniques that have only a thin shell of mutual relationships. Basically the book is a collection of papers from those who came to a certain workshop in 1990. The editors hoped to "review salient features of neural net systems and to present the most promising approaches of addressing the issues involved in designing a neural system," a worthy goal for a textbook perhaps but not a goal that is achieved by this book.
